The former headmistress of Oprah Winfrey's South African school is suing the talk show host for defamation.

Nomvuyo Mzamane, who led the South African Leadership Academy for Girls, filed a lawsuit against Winfrey in Philadelphia on Friday in an attempt to salvage her professional reputation, according to People.com.

The civil suit claims Winfrey "launched what amounted to a defamatory campaign" against Mzamane late last year by implying that Mzamane is "untrustworthy, failed the students of the academy, did not care about the students at the academy, knew of alleged physical and sexual abuse at the academy and participated in a cover-up of the alleged abuse."

The suit cites comments to the media Winfrey allegedly made in October and November last year after a dorm matron at the school was charged with assaulting and abusing six students.

(UPI) – Comic actress Tina Fey has reprised her role as Sarah Palin in "Saturday Night Live's" parody of last week's vice presidential debate. Fey, a former "SNL" player and writer, was joined in Saturday night's opening sketch by special guest Queen Latifah, who played moderator Gwen Ifill, and cast member Jason Sudeikis, who took on the role of Democratic vice presidential candidate Sen. Joe Biden.

After Latifah as Ifill asked how her administration would deal with the current financial crisis, the faux Palin replied: "Well first of all, let me say how nice it is to meet Joe Biden. And may I say, up close your hair plugs don't look nearly as bad as everyone says. You know, John McCain and I, we're a couple of mavericks. And gosh darnit, we're gonna take that maverick energy right to Washington and we're gonna use it to fix this financial crisis and everything else that's plaguin' this great country of ours. ... You know we're gonna take every aspect of the crisis and look at it and then we're gonna ask ourselves, 'What would a maverick do in this situation?' And then, you know, we'll do that."

Music Manager Snubs Ali Lohan's Pop Career

Johnny Wright claims neither he nor his company were ever scheduled to meet with Ali's mom Dina.

DAILY ENTERTAINMENT PHOTOS: Get the Latest Celeb Gossip!

A renowned music manager has dealt Lindsay Lohan's younger sister Ali a devastating career blow, by insisting he has no "interest or intention" of adding the wannabe pop star to his celebrity-packed roster.

Dina Lohan, mom and manager of Lindsay and Ali, was reportedly desperate to get Ali a deal with Johnny Wright - who has made a name for himself by looking after superstars such as Justin Timberlake and The Jonas Brothers.

Last month, Dina's representative told the New York Post's PageSix column that she and Ali were expecting to meet with Wright's firm to discuss ways to further Ali's stalled music career.

Her first single, "All The Way Around," from her debut LP, failed to set the Billboard chart alight when it was released earlier this year.

But Wright claims neither he nor his company were ever scheduled to meet with Dina.

In a statement to PageSix, Wright says, "Johnny Wright would like to set the record straight regarding his involvement with Ali Lohan.

"Johnny Wright has never met with Ali Lohan, has never been introduced to Ali Lohan, nor has he had a meeting with Ali or Dina Lohan regarding Ali's music career.

"While he wishes Ali Lohan the best in all her endeavors, Mr. Wright has never had any intention of speaking with Ali Lohan regarding her career. Any story that has surfaced about such a meeting holds no merit and is completely false."

Wright adds, "Wright Entertainment Group has never had any interest or intention of adding Ali Lohan as an artist on the company's roster, which currently includes Justin Timberlake, Jonas Brothers, Janet Jackson and Ciara amongst others."

Hollywood Gets Political

From religion to patriotism, gay rights and the presidency of George W. Bush, directors are wearing their political colors on their sleeves.

Campaign 2008: Get the latest news, video, and polls!

(Reuters) - Hollywood is coming out this fall with a slew of political movies that hit all the hot-button topics as the tight U.S. presidential campaign nears its climax.

From religion to patriotism, gay rights and the presidency of George W. Bush, directors are wearing their political colors on their sleeves, using comedy, true stories and fantasy to send not-so-subtle messages to Americans preparing to choose between Democrat Barack Obama or Republican John McCain on November 4.

"There is a sense now that these political films can really be successful, and they're a genre aimed at one side of the political spectrum or the other," said Robert Thompson, professor of media and popular culture at Syracuse University.

Next week, controversial director Oliver Stone lands his satirical biopic "W." that attempts to deconstruct Bush's faith and marriage and the days leading up to the 2003 Iraq invasion.

Tom Ortenberg, executive producer of "W.", said filmmakers were mirroring society, even if the release date of the Stone movie could be seen as politically charged.

"We don't attempt to shape society, but we do reflect it," Ortenberg said. "The movie is an examination of how a man like George W. Bush became president, and frankly how anyone can become president."

Director David Zucker's farce "An American Carol" and talk show host Bill Maher's documentary that mocks faith "Religulous" opened on the same day in movie theaters last week.

Zucker, who made hit comedy movies "Airplane!" and the "Naked Gun" series, is a liberal-turned-conservative.

"An American Carol" is a fictional version of left-wing populist Michael Moore who in the movie comes around to loving America just like Scrooge learns to love Christmas.

"I don't think (Moore) does hate America," Zucker said. "I think we're taking dramatic license."

Moore himself released his latest documentary "Slacker Uprising" on the Internet for free last month. It was seen by 2 million viewers in the first three days.

Although the movie chronicles Moore's speaking tours of college campuses during the 2004 election, its Internet release came with a plea to young people to vote and "save this country from four more years of Republican rule."

With the debate over gay marriage heating up in California, trailers are running for the movie biopic "Milk." Sean Penn plays California's first openly gay elected official, Harvey Milk, who was assassinated in 1978 when the gay rights movement was in its infancy.

After last year's disappointing box office for a string of Iraq war themes movies, including "Rendition" and "In the Valley of Elah," it remains to be seen whether Americans will lap up the political fare with the same enthusiasm they are showing for the tight 2008 race to the White House.

But Thompson said it was encouraging nevertheless to see so many political movies hitting the screens.

"It's nice to know that you can go to your mall in your small city and see something other than helicopters blowing up and comic book people, or Julia Roberts falling in love.

"The fact that we're making good, viable films about our civic experience I think is a good thing," Thompson said.
